Site Updates April 21, 2008

Spring is here and outdoor climbing is starting to rev up - at least for those who don't mind slogging through a bit of snow.

Rock Gardens:
The Rock Gardens are currently not available for climbing due to construction and blasting in the area. On May 5th, YTG, the City and a couple of climbers are meeting to take a look at the Rock Gardens and to iron out access to the site during construction over the summer.

Blasting is scheduled to end May 31, 2008 give or take a week. Climbing is not recommended in the Rock Gardens at this time.

Golden Canyon:
Sean reports that the climbs in Golden Canyon are clear and dry. However the canyon floor is still fairly snowy. No word on the condition of the road.

White Mountain:
White Mountain is in good climbing condition with some snow at the base of the climbs. The rock is dry and the bolts look good. Bring a tarp to keep your feet dry at the base.

2 new top anchors have been installed in SeaMonkey Village (the area farthest to the right from the trail) They are called The Wet Spot and SeaMonkey's Revenge. The climbs are still very dirty so bring a brush.

Rappel anchors have been set above some climbs to make setting a top rope a little easier. As with any bolt - inspect them and use at your own risk.

If you have any more information about the condition of the various climbing areas let us know at
