Ice Climbing Madness

Despite temps below -25 the few, the proud, the moderately insane, ice climbers have been out hacking away at the various falls and seeps. Head over to the forms at forum.climbyukon.net to read the trip reports and/or post your own.

It appears there is good ice at White Mountain, the Muncho Lake and the Skagway pass. Recently, Curt H. and Alain D. uncovered a new ice area just outside of Skagway. The new area is call Spice and Meatballs. The trip report and photos can be found here: http://forum.climbyukon.net/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=60

If you are headed out to the mountains be extra vigilant for avalanches. Our friends over at the Yukon Avalanche Association report a high avalanche hazard due to the huge fluctuations in temperature.
